My name is Rachael Genson. A native Texan, I recently graduated from The University of Texas at Austin and I am proud to call Austin my new home. I spent four years in college pursuing a degree in public relations and I am one of the few people I know who found a job doing what I love. Now, I work at INK Public Relations, a boutique PR firm that specializes in high tech and clean energy and I couldn’t be happier.
In my free time, I try to take advantage of the wonderful city I live in by spending time outdoors, trying out new restaurants and seeing the occasional concert (Austin is the Live Music Capital of the World after all). It’s a blast to constantly be doing something new, but I’m also a huge fan of curling up in my room and spending hours reading a new book or writing (a secret love of mine).
Since I was a child, writing has always entertained me. At a young age, I would write stories to accompany my brother’s scribbled illustrations. Convinced that my journals would one day be an award-winning book, they read like dramatic narratives (with all the description of a literary classic). By middle school, even the notes I passed in class had a creative flair to them. The older I got, the more writing became involved in my life. As a public relations professional, I get the opportunity to write on a daily basis, yet I still crave more.
And that’s where my blog comes in.
I’ve always been fascinated with blogs – I find them an amazing way to combine news and life. There’s always been this little part of me that wanted to create my own, but I felt that I was never ready. I didn’t have a topic and I didn’t know the slightest thing about “blog networking”, but I recently decided that I didn’t care. I wanted to write a blog, so I will write a blog. Although I will write about all the things I love in life, my hope is that as my writing and knowledge develop, so will my blog’s focus. Eventually, this blog will be made of the stuff that wins awards (sound familiar?). Until then, “For The Love Of” will be my little corner of the Internet, and that’s good enough for me.
