I’m sure many of you loyal readers have been wondering why my blog activity has been so light this month, and I think that I owe you an explanation. I was not abducted by aliens, and I certainly didn’t run off to the circus, although my reason could be equally as unnerving for me (well, not equally so, but pretty darn close). Early this month I took the plunge and became an independent stylist with Stella & Dot, which essentially means that I’ve launched my own Stella & Dot business right here in Austin. It’s something I had been thinking about for awhile, and was finally convinced that Stella & Dot was worth a shot. For any family that reads this blog, don’t worry, I haven’t quit my job. Stella & Dot is just a great business for me to run on the side.
For those who are wondering “What the heck is Stella & Dot?”, let me explain. Stella & Dot is a social selling company that creates entrepreneurial opportunities for women by providing them with fabulous boutique-style jewelry and accessories sold exclusively through trunk shows and online by independent stylist like myself. I was a bit skeptical at first – I mean, the whole idea just sounded too good to be true. But in the three short weeks I’ve been involved with Stella & Dot, I’ve really gotten a feel for just how great the company (and idea behind it) is. Not only do I have a great way to do some personal networking outside of the workplace, but I get to sell some amazing jewelry (and even make a little money in the process). Plus, who doesn’t want to be known as the friend with all the great jewelry pieces? I mean, just take a look at these:
But, it’s not all about the jewelry. Another thing I LOVE about joining Stella & Dot is that they work to give back to the community (and you all know how important philanthropy is to me). The company has a Foundation which works to empower women through economic and educational development. Any time someone buys this bracelet or this charm, 100% of the net proceeds go towards helping the partner organization. Take a look at this video for additional information.
The Stella & Dot network is extensive, and you are never far from someone who wants to help you learn, but there are some unsung praises that need to be heard that fall outside of my new Stella & Dot family. Those go out to my friends, who have been so helpful in this journey to launch Stella & Dot with me by attending my trunk shows and even hosting some of their own! I wouldn’t have been able to get off the ground without them. So, thank you guys!
But, guess what? I’m not done yet – my business is still growing and I want ALL of my friends to participate, from my Austin friends, to my Dallas/Houston/New York friends to my online and blog friends. I encourage you all to take a look at the Stella & Dot website using my personal link: http://www.stelladot.com/sites/rachaelgenson. I promise that there is something for everyone on that website (even all you guys that stumble on my blog. I bet your mom/sister/girlfriend/whoever would appreciate a nice piece of jewelry that they could wear on a daily basis). Seriously, go take a look. Like right now – I’ll wait.
I know you’re probably thinking that it’s too difficult to decide on just one piece – you want them all! To that I say, let me help you host a trunk show! The average hostess receives over $250 in free jewelry, and four items for half off – that’s a killer deal, and will certainly make it easy for you to own each piece that you love! Just shoot me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org and we’ll figure out the best plan for you.
Is my adventure into Stella & Dot my first foray into the business world or is it just something I love for now? Time will only tell, but I do know that thus far, I’m having a blast! I’m so excited to see what kind of opportunities arise through Stella & Dot, and I’m even more excited to build my personal jewelry collection and to help all my friends do the same!
Have you ever shopped with Stella & Dot, or hosted a trunk show of your own? Please share in the comments section and let everyone know your favorite piece in the collection. I’ll start: my favorite piece is the Bardot Spiral Bangle in silver – it goes with EVERYTHING!
