If you remember, back in November I wrote a post listing a few things that I would love to receive as a birthday gift. I had no expectations that I would receive any of these presents, primarily because I don’t usually go around publicizing what I have my eye on. This low expectation was even furthered by the fact that my own search for a few of the items (namely, the OPI nail polish and Zara blazer) proved fruitless – both items were out of season…by several years. Whoops. I attribute this error (and lack of) of fashion knowledge to Pinterest users, who were the reason I fell in love with each of the items in the first place. How was I supposed to know that my coveted pink Zara blazer was out of season, if it was just recently pinned on the site?
Well long story short, I gave up on my search for those items, resigning myself to the fact that they would just be pretty pictures forever rather than an actual reality. Or at least that is what I thought…
Always striving to be the best boyfriend ever, Brandon decided to buy me the Zara blazer I so dreamed of for my birthday. Little did he know that the blazer was out of season. But, being a determined guy looking to ensure his girlfriend got a wonderful present, he soldiered on, refusing to give up the search until he found my blazer. Several phone calls, web searches and eBay battles later, he finally found one in my size…in China! By the time he ordered it, it was already too late for the blazer to make it to the US by my birthday, so it became my Christmas present…until it didn’t make it to the US by Christmas. Brandon was distraught. He had worked so hard to find me something I actually liked and it wouldn’t even be here in time. After nearly one month, he got a phone call on New Year’s Eve saying the blazer had arrived. Success! At this point, I was still completely oblivious to the fact that this long spoken about Christmas present was my desired Zara blazer. I didn’t even have the slightest idea what this could be, but I was so excited to find out.
It wasn’t until yesterday that we made the trek to his aunt’s house in Georgetown to get my present. Of course, his aunt was in on this hunt, so they both waited in anticipation while I opened the packaging. Imagine my surprise when I opened the bag and sitting inside was a pink blazer. THE pink blazer. The very one that I was sure would never be mine. Shock can’t even begin to describe the emotion I felt – utter shock and elation is more like it. Not only do I finally have this beauty of a blazer in my wardrobe, but I know that I have the kind of boyfriend who is willing to move heaven and earth to make me happy. What more could a girl want?
I can’t wait until the first day I wear that beauty to work. I expect it will receive several great remarks, but even if it doesn’t, I don’t care. In my mind, this blazer is AMAZING…even if it is “out of season”.
